The First Electrified Grand Cherokee

The First Electrified Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee has been Jeep's flagship vehicle since its introduction. It is now in its fifth generation and brings a Grand Cherokee unlike any other, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. This is the first-ever plug-in hybrid vehicle, also referred to as a PHEV variant. The 4xe PHEV technology enhances the fun, freedom, and adventure that the Jeep brand is known for a while providing unprecedented performance, fuel economy, and environmental friendliness. The introduction of the 4xe demonstrates Jeep's commitment to "Zero Emission Freedom," as the brand explores future mobility during an anniversary year that celebrates 80 years of achievements, insights, and innovations.

The Capabilities of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe will deliver 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, with an estimated 25 miles of all-electric range, and has an estimated total capacity of more than 440 miles. Suppose you are looking to tow with the Grand Cherokee 4xe, no sweat. It offers a 6,000-lbs max towing capability. Plus, Jeep's Quadra Trac II 4x4 system with a two-speed transfer case and 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio, and a 47.4:1 crawl ratio, you will be conquering the off-road.

High-Tech 2.0-Liter Turbocharged Engine

The 4xe comes with a fuel-efficient 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine. This high-tech, direct-injection engine uses a twin-scroll, low-inertia turbocharger attached to the engine's cylinder head. The power steering system and air conditioning compressor are both powered by electric motors. By removing these energy loads, the 2.0L can run even more efficiently.

4xe E Selec Modes

The Grand Cherokee 4xe offers drivers a tailor powertrain experience with E Selec modes. Drivers can choose between three main modes allowing them to modify power to best suit their trip, whether commuting, off-roading, or long-distance travel. The driver selects the desired powertrain mode via buttons mounted on the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel. Hybrid mode blends torque from the electric motor and gas engine. The powertrain will optimize battery and engine power to deliver the best fuel efficiency and performance. When placed in "Electric," the Grand Cherokee 4xe operates on zero-emission electric power only until the battery reaches the minimum charge or if the throttle is wide-open, which engages the engine. Whereas "eSave: mode prioritizes the engine, saving the battery charge for later use. The driver can also choose between Battery Save and Battery Charge during eSave via the Hybrid Electric Pages in the Uconnect 5 monitor.
