The Platform of the Future
The platform is the cornerstone of electric vehicles, whether battery electric or plug-in hybrid, providing the essential foundation for the vehicle's body, drive unit, and suspension. The upcoming Wagoneer S, set to debut in late 2024, exemplifies this by utilizing the Stellantis STLA Large platform. This advanced platform, one of four specifically designed for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), boasts exceptional performance and safety features. It offers enhanced protection for occupants and key propulsion system components, including the battery pack and electric motors.
Jeep Hybrid Batteries
Your Jeep Brand BEV is powered entirely by its battery, meaning the larger the battery, the more power you get and the farther you can travel on a single charge. The Jeep Wagoneer S also includes regenerative braking, which recaptures energy during braking to help maximize efficiency and extend driving range. Upon its release, the Wagoneer S will feature a 400-volt, 100-kilowatt-hour battery capable of delivering over 600 horsepower and providing a range of up to 400 miles on a single charge. This advanced battery system ensures robust performance, quick acceleration, and long-distance travel, making the Wagoneer S a standout in the electric SUV market.
Can I Have Gas and Electric Power?
Absolutely, you can have both. Jeep Brand plug-in hybrid technology combines a traditional gas engine with an electric motor to deliver dynamic power and extended range. In Electric Mode, Jeep 4xe plug-in hybrid vehicles offer nearly silent, emissions-free performance with a range of up to 25 miles on electric power alone. You can adjust the electric output to match different driving conditions, whether you need maximum efficiency for city driving or extra power for off-road adventures. The system allows you to recharge the battery at home or public charging stations, making it easy to switch between gas and electric power as needed. This versatility ensures you can enjoy the best of both worlds: the reliability of a gas engine and the eco-friendly benefits of electric driving.
What Are the Different Driving Modes?
Jeep 4xe vehicles offer three distinct drive modes to suit various driving needs. In Hybrid Mode, the default setting, the 2.0L turbocharged engine, and the electric motor work together to deliver maximum horsepower, instant torque, and thrilling acceleration, with electric power being consumed first. When the battery has more than a 1% charge, the vehicle can switch to Electric Mode, allowing for near-zero tailpipe emissions even at highway speeds. In this mode, the Wrangler 4xe can travel up to 21 miles, while the Grand Cherokee 4xe can go up to 25 miles on electric power alone. Finally, eSave Mode prioritizes the 2.0L engine, conserving battery charge for later use. It can be configured to increase the battery charge, ensuring electric power is available when you need it most.
Different Ways to Charge
Jeep plug-in hybrid and battery electric models have various charging options to suit your needs. The standard Level 1 (120-volt) charging system plugs into any typical household outlet. For plug-in hybrids, it takes about 10 hours for a full charge, while for battery electric vehicles, it takes approximately three days. The available Free2move Charge Level 2 Charger (240-volt) offers a faster home charging solution with up to 10-19 kilowatts of power, requiring professional installation. It takes 8-10 hours to fully charge a battery electric vehicle and about 2.5 hours for a plug-in hybrid. Level 3 chargers (400+ volts) provide DC fast-charging capabilities found at public stations for the fastest charging. Using the Free2move Charge app, you can quickly locate, activate, and pay for charging. Level 3 chargers can fully charge a battery electric vehicle in 15-60 minutes.
