About Livingston County Michigan
Livingston County is located in the eastern part of Michigan, part of the Detriot-Warren-Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city of Howell serves as the county seat which was platted in 1833. For three years after it was platted, two other counties were assigned to take care of Livingston's judicial, taxation, and revenue matters. In 1836, it was finally formally organized and handled all their own matters. Livingston County is one of Michigan's 10 "Cabinet Counties", which is a group of counties that are named to honor members of President Andrew Jackson's Cabinet. This county was named forEdward Livingston, the former US Secretary of State.
